Introducing “The Ultimate Fighter Heavyweights”: John Madsen

You already recognize some of names and faces from the upcoming season of “The Ultimate Fighter,” but there’s a lot you probably still don’t know about this group of 16 heavyweight warriors. Each weekday between now and the Sept. 16 premiere of “The Ultimate Fighter Heavyweights,” FIGHT! will introduce two cast members leading up to the introduction of our TUF bloggers.
John Madsen

Hometown: Orange County, Calif.

Born in Orange County, Calif., Madsen was raised in South Dakota and attended Dolan High School where he defeated current Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar in a wrestling match and was recognized as an All-Conference and All-State athlete in football, wrestling and track. Madsen enrolled in South Dakota State University and was a national champion wrestler his freshmen year. After college he still had the passion to compete and decided to pursue mixed martial arts fulltime. Madsen has been training for almost two years with Matt Hughes’ Hughes Intensive Training (H.I.T) Squad.
