Though known mostly to American fight fans as the company that manages Fedor Emelianenko, M-1 Global is working aggressively to secure the services of talented fighters across the U.S., Europe, and Russia. The company’s latest signing is UFC veteran and decorated submission grappler Vinicius Magalhaes (#74 Light Heavyweight). Magalhaes’ jiu jitsu is superlative, but he’s struggled to put his game together, stumbling to a 5-5-1 mark in his first 11 fights. But most recently, Magalhaes submitted Alihan Magomedov M-1 Challenge XXII. The contract aims to put “Pezao” in the M-1 ring six times over the next two years.
“We have expectations that Vinny will become one of the greatest fighters in the world and are proud to have him on board,” said Evgeni Kogan, Director of Operations for M-1 Global.
The promotion’s next card is M-1 Challenge XXIII on March 5, which features championship fights at heavyweight and welterweight.
